Get Treatment Without Seeing a GP

At MEDSCLINIC, our highly qualified Prescribing Pharmacist can assess and treat a range of common illnesses under the NHS Pharmacy First Service.

This NHS-funded service allows eligible patients to receive professional advice, treatment and, where appropriate, NHS prescriptions directly from a pharmacist without needing a GP appointment.

In many cases, treatment may include antibiotics or other prescription medicines supplied under NHS guidelines.

Conditions Covered Under NHS Pharmacy First

We can assess and treat the following seven conditions:

• Earache (Acute Otitis Media) – Ages 1 to 17 years
• Impetigo – Ages 1 year and over
• Infected Insect Bites – Ages 1 year and over
• Shingles – Ages 18 years and over
• Sinusitis – Ages 12 years and over
• Sore Throat – Ages 5 years and over
• Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) – Women aged 16 to 64 years

How Can You Access This Service?

Option 1 – Walk In

Simply visit MEDSCLINIC with your NHS Number and speak to a member of our team.

Option 2 – GP Referral

Ask your GP practice to refer you directly to MEDSCLINIC for assessment and treatment under the NHS Pharmacy First Service.

Option 3 – NHS 111 Referral

Complete the online assessment and, where available, select MEDSCLINIC Pharmacy for referral and treatment.

What If My Condition Is Not Covered?

Some conditions fall outside NHS Pharmacy First eligibility criteria due to age restrictions, symptom complexity, or clinical risk factors.

Where NHS Pharmacy First is not suitable, MEDSCLINIC may be able to offer assessment through our Private Prescribing Clinic.

This service is led by an Independent Prescribing Pharmacist & Mental Health Nurse and may provide access to private prescriptions for conditions not covered by NHS Pharmacy First.

• Hay Fever
• Indigestion & Acid Reflux
• Erectile Dysfunction
• Premature Ejaculation
• Nail Infections

• Urinary Tract Infections outside NHS eligibility criteria
